It's only some 150MB, so will be downloaded real quick, and perhaps it'll amuse you for a few minutes. However, if you have a game pass, I'd recommend you give it a try while it's on there anyways. If you remember it as something boring you were forced to do because you couldn't go play outside or watch tv / play videogames, you'll probably want to steer clear. If you remember it fondly, you'll most likely enjoy Townscaper. This game is like that time you sat down with your wooden blocks or your lego as a child, threw the manual to the corner, and decided to build a town of your own. This game is about just plopping down a couple blocks and building an island town, painting it in a variety of vibrant colors and basking in the glory of your own creation. While there’s not a lot of customization available, the automatic changes to the building components’ appearance and the grid’s unique shape make for colorful and lively designs you can easily create. An easy city-builder gameĪll in all, Townscaper is a lovely little building game for those who have some time on their hands. There’s also no other grid shape available, such as those without curves. Thus, you can get windows or doors that are asymmetrical in terms of placement to another wall’s windows and doors. For one, you can color these parts but there’s no option to manually customize how they look. However, the game’s algorithm for establishing how a part looks doesn’t fully cater to all players. Each part also changes its look based on what it’s connected to, so you can spawn things like gardens and stairways automatically. The grid system for each block is shaped in a unique irregular polygon that curves, so the roads and buildings never feel rigid. ![]() What’s great about this game is that its sandbox design is meant to be a relaxing experience for all-letting you simply play around. ![]() Thus, your work can either be quaint islands or massive infrastructures. There’s no goal to reach: just keep building until you’re satisfied with your coastal town. Simply click on the water to place the start of your cobblestone foundation and begin adding various parts for your design.
